&lt;p&gt;2) Yes, you can use the remote username within perl, it&#039;s located in the enviromental variable &#039;REMOTE_USER&#039; ($ENV{&#039;REMOTE_USER&#039;}). Note that in some servers it may be &#039;AUTH_USER&#039;, instead.&lt;/p&gt;
