One of my computers has Windows ME and MSN Messenger is constantly prompting me to update it whenever I am online, but the file size is huge, so I keep hitting cancel. I know it can be disabled in other versions of Windows, but I keep reading that it cannot in ME and 98. Is there a way around this? Mad
Thanks in advance if you have any advice.

Thanks for the info. I contacted MSN and they gave me this,
Start > Run > msmsgs > Tools > Options > Preferences > uncheck "run this program when windows starts" and this worked like a charm. Thank again for your help.

Just switch to Gaim. You can still use your MSN account, as well as any AIM, Yahoo, IRC and some other services' accounts.
