Hi,

I'm not sure why, but for some reason despite trying, I couldn't quite get my eyes to focus on your content. I think it might be that crazy dotted background, but I can't be sure. The top menu is hard to read as well... brown text on a brownish background, not exactly easy to pick the words off the background (the header also suffers from the same problem).

Also the left menu is kind of sparse with just two links. That space could be used better, you could either move the top menu to the left and ditch the top menu or alertnatively move some of your content into it (perhaps the 'featured articles').

This is pretty good for a start. I really like the clear intro at the top. It is very well written and gets right to the point. I think it does go on and on a bit too much. I noticed that there are some good article links down below. If you shortened the intro you could get those links closer to the top where people would be more likely to see them. Also try to do something with the google ads so that they're not in the way so much. You do want people to click on your ads but do you really want them to use them to leave your site rather than reading your articles?

When people land on a website they need to know what they should do next. Here there is no direction - they only see the intro text and some navigation links. Moving the article links closer to the top would help to get people involved right away.

The graphics could use some work. I like the outer dotted background (I have something similar on my site!) and the colour scheme. Some of the effects are a little overdone. Like the 3D circles in the header and the mouseovers on the navigation. Keep things simple and make sure text is easier to read. Also do something more interesting with the main title - try using a special font to make it more unique looking.

For SEO, it is very, very important that you have a title tag that accurately describes the page content and includes some keywords. You've done this well on article pages but not on the home page.

Good job overall - great start with the content and writing user-friendly articles.

Thanks for your comments which I have taken on board. I have removed the 3D circles and defined the sitename a bit better (well I think so anyway). I have also shortened the intro and moved the featured articles links up closer. I have removed one set of google ads too.

As for AndyK's comments, I agree that the left side is extremely bare but I don't think I can put anything in there. I am using a software product called Ezgenerator that builds my website and the templates are already built, you just add your content, tables, etc. I haven't seen anything that will allow me to use the left hand side section but if I can find something I will definitely be using it.

Thanks again for the comments, have a look and see do the changes I have made help.

Good content but not so hot on the colour scheme used.

Hi everyone,

just wanted to say a big thankyou for all your comments and feedback. I have redesigned the look of my website, changed the color scheme, and generally I think it looks much better. Would appreciate if you could have a look and see what you think now.

The site looks great. The only thing I can see if you would delete some of the blank space after the Copyright © 2007 GhostwritingUncovered.com
Maybe you need to delete any line break tag that is below the copyright line.

I see what you mean surgematrix, there is a lot of blank space after the copyright, not sure why this is, I know the copyright is located in the footer of the template so I can't understand why there is so much space and it is the same on all the pages.

I will have to look into this a little more and see if I can sort that. It was something that I hadn't even noticed until you pointed it out.

Thanks again for your comments, they really are appreciated.

Amanda.
