I know the front page is a little messy and needs some work, but that's why I need some criticism so I can make the best of it Smiling

How is the overall usability in the gallery section? Do you understand what the site is about?

I look forward to your opinions.

1. well, the gallery is powered by coppermine - so nagivation, uploading, etc - is pretty standard
2. i think the home page is definitely a little too bare. you'll need a proper header, footer, column layout, etc. i also don't detect a color scheme.
3. you should look into changing the font type and font color. at the moment, the fonts in the main body and the links navigation pane look out-of-sync and i cannot really say is suitable for your type of site

overall, i think you've got quite a lot of work to do... Wink all the best...

I actually liked the home page. It was nice and simple and clean and I knew immediately what to do. The only question I had was why? Why should I upload my photos here?

Once I entered the site I was a little confused. I think this page could be layed out so that it's easier to understand what is going on. Everything is the same size and colour, so it's impossible to use visual cues to see what's what. The big test at the top tells me that there are three steps, but I don't see what they are unless I look really closely. The ad at the top takes up a lot of space so the actual content doesn't start for quite a while. I scroll down and see a bunch of pictures but there's no visual difference between them so I'm having a hard time deciding what to do next.

In short: a great design will tell you what's what without even reading the text. Headers are helpful, but visuals should be used to direct the eye and help the user figure out what's what. I'm assuming this is some sort of script though, and I know that it can be difficult to make changes to those. I've been spending hours over the past few nights trying to get my gallery setup right Roll eyes

I just realized that there is no logo on this site - you definitely need one! Branding is important Smiling

Good luck with the site!

The "why" is to upload your amateur photos for everyone to see and rate and comment on. I, personally, love taking photographs everyday -- in fact a lot of the phots on the site already are mine. I don't have expensive equipment to do real professional photography, and not a lot of people do, but I feel I can take some pretty cool pics.

On the other end of it, there are plent of people that love to just look at someone else's work and have the ability to comment and vote on them.

I will offer prizes in the future for the highest rated pic, etc.

Thanks for the ideas and help!

Also, you're right about the gallery, it is a script and I am very unfamiliar with editing those. In fact, you could say I'm a newbie.

I do plan to come up with a nice logo and I will organize the front page and create a nice color scheme.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I made some changes to the color and layout. I am still in construction phase but I wanted to see what you all think of the colors and if I should change them to something different?

Great site, very neat and clear. This is the way sites should be, not everyone likes clutter and tons of this, that and the other. I like photography sites, I am always looking for animal photography for my site so this may be a site for me! Well done.

I like it. I am a big fan of crisp and clear uncluttered websites. First impressions are very important and I knew right away what your site is about. I loved the pic with the tornado and the lightning right next to it!
When I rate a pic, it goes nowhere, it should return me to the picture, or give some kind of confirmation that the picture was rated, it just goes to a blank screen with no exit point back to your site. I'm not sure, did you intend your visitors to leave your site and go to http://www.ricsartshop.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc? If you did, it works and if you didint, this might be the reason that people leave your site.
I like it, good job.

I just tested it out both logged in and as a guest and it tells me that my vote has been accepted and then automatically redirects to the original image.

Not sure what the issue was that you had.

Thanks for the review and the head's up!

I would move the rules out to some other page. Just list 2 -3 options for the user,
i.e. click here to upload, search here, pay here, or something along those lines.

I like the interface, I like the images.

I would advise you to always, but always compare your web site with imageshack.us.

As far as I can see, although you don't have any ads on the web site, you have some images, so your page actually loads slower than imageshack's page.

Not bad for a start. Wink

I like the site, but i think that you should add a little more to it, like go through website tenmplates and find one you like and use it, or design one of your own after looking at some good ones

Look nice and clear, very simple but it's ok. you may consider to add more image on homepage or add some attractive content at least once in your homepage.
