Recommendz is a Digg like website. It is aimed at people who live on the Sunshine Coast of Australia. Its a place where they can make recommendations of local businesses and services.

We have only just launched so please note there is not much content there as yet, but hopefully as the community grows so will the amount of useful content.

I think it is a nice site! If I lived in the area, I would bookmark your page.

I'm not a big fan of orange, but if you're going to use that color, I think you picked a decent shade.

I looked at several of your pages, and the only thing I might change is how fast the scrolling pictures change. It's seems a little fast to me.

The website looks and functions nicely, but it puts quote a load on my CPU - probably from the JavaScript items.

Not enough to max out my awesome Quad Core, but you can see that it is using up an entire core at times, which would max out a single-core machine.

I'm not sure if it's just my connection here, but the site took a fair amount of time to load. Also, I think the orange color of the site is a bit hard on the eyes. Overall I think the layout and navigation of the site is pretty easy to follow. Only other thing I can see is the images on the page move way too fast, It's distracting to the eye and takes away from the page.

@ pr0gr4mm3r, thanks for the screenshot. I was aware of the load but didn't realise it was that bad. The software is Pligg and has had no real mods done to it, so I suppose the problem is inherent in their system. Do you have any suggestions of how best to fix this???

This is a great looking website! I really like the colour scheme and the way the content is represented.
There's a few odd things though: the series of menus on the left goes all the way down, and the two at the very bottom (Last 10 users & Top Published) are orphaned in a way. It would look better if the menus would be more compressed or possibly replace the banners on the right. Expanding the width is another option.
Other than that: there's a small CSS glitch - under the two buttons in the top menu (Tourism and Weddings) there's a hyperlink there, I guess it shouldn't be under it, but that's how it's loaded in a Firefox 2 under Linux.

I like this site. The off-white background colour is easy on the eyes, and the subtle 3D effect is attractive.

I'm not sure I would have picked orange, but perhaps that works for your market so no criticism there.

The site seems slightly frantic; I'd suggest replacing the scrolling ticker in "Most Popular Published" with static content or perhaps a slow fade transition, and slowing the transitions of your primary graphic slide show.

All in all, though, it's an attractive site with a well communicated purpose that I would expect to become quite successful.

I'm not a fan of the orange, and I agree with the above poster that it feels frantic, far too many links and side boxes.

It seems to convey it's message, but is very distracting with the moving text in the Most Popular published. I would recommend either making it static, or giving a slider so that the text only moves when the user wishes it to.

Nice looking website you have there.
Loading time isn't so bad, it is around 15 secs to finish the page.
very easy to navigate.

In an SEO point of view,
keyword relevancy to the page is terrible, might want to change it.
your title tag also contains too many characters to be
considered robot friendly.
And also, This web page contains 310 urls. Some Search Engines have problems with more than 100 urls on a page.

For example, Google's Webmaster Guidelines state Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100)
