Hi all!

I am requesting a review of a site that I have almost completed. There are just a few photos left to upload to this site. This has been overhauled and placed into a wordpress base and was entired crafted from scratch.

Any and all opinions and feedback would be greatly appreciated, especially in the areas of usability and accessibility.

Thanks in advance for your time and efforts!

Hi,

Sorry I didn't get around to reviewing your site sooner!

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the font size is actually a bit too big here. Make it a bit smaller, closer to the default.

I really like that patterned background. It's my favourite part of the site. The rest of the design doesn't match as well as it could. The header graphic in particular is very different. It looks like it's part of a different design. Try to find a photo with more brown or darker colours in it. Also make the title text a bit smaller, and maybe try positioning it closer to the bottom of the graphic (whatever works with the photo you're using).

The main content area isn't the same shade of brown as the background on my monitor. I think it would be better to do that in a lighter colour anyway - an off white or cream colour might be nice. There's too much brown here as it is.

One thing that bothers me about this site is that it assumes you already know the situation. It might be nice to provide some background on who this little girl is and what happened to her. I also think that there should be a title other than the domain name.

I just noticed the higlight effect on the navbar showing which page you're on. I think the changes from the normal state are too much here. It might be better to change only one or two aspects of the text, not all of them (alignment, case, colour, background colour etc.). When I first looked at it I thought it was a header dividing the navigation into two sections.

Nice site, however you might want to think about changing the bottom border of the header when you roll-over; I thought that it was flash at first. You should also edit or make you sitemap, it's 404 not found error. I also agree with Megan about the font size, too big.

Personally I like the font size ( not sure if you've changed it since sitesupport and megan visited ). I do definitely agreee with megan about the nav bar. I had the same first impression, and the advice megan gives is good Smiling Otherwise it's a good looking site.

Hey all! Sorry I haven't posted back yet, busy last few weeks. I made a few changes to the site, particularly the font size and the background color of the main content area, oh, also the nav bar active state. I still can't decide on the header image, It does clash now with the background color. I appreciate your feedback and look forward to more of it. I haven't found any other header images that I like yet, so I'll keep looking around.

I fixed the sitemap, back link for it, and for the situation, the info is in the about page, should a summary be added to the front page above the updates? It's kinda a long story...

Thanks again!

Wow, first of all I'd like to say that I didn't plan on crying this morning but oh well. I'm a little emotional when it comes to these matters. I too have a special little girl who was born at 24 weeks and was described as blue, limp and lifeless weighing 15 oz. She's 7 now. Miracles.

I'm not sure what your site looked like before your adjustments but I do think it could still use some work with the colour scheme. I also think you should really have your banner picked out before you do to make sure everything flows together. Here it looks like nothing really matches, not well pieced together.

I don't like the colour of your highlights on the buttons but again the colours should all be corrected after you have your general scheme figured out incorporating the banner.

I think it would be cool if you had a gallery of pictures also. I know you say you plan on uploading more. Not sure how you plan to incorporate them but I can tell you my first thoughts were on looking for that, a link where all the pictures are put together. Flash galleries are really nice but that's more of a preference thing.

On a good note, it is easy to read and navigate though. I love the Jeremiah verse on the 'about' page.

I think a banner with a picture of your little girl in it would be nice. I'm willing to help you with that if you would like. I do require that my company logo is somewhere on my design with charity work though.

If you're interested just send me an e-mail, check out my site.

Good luck with everything and God Bless you!

Looks good.

Clean and simple.

Might want to do something about separating your content (ie a different color for your titles). Nothing jumps up to the eyes now.

Also,
I understand the theme is flowers... but I don't really like those flowers separators (in between the titles). The one on the right side looks good though.

Jeff.

Thank you Gx3 and Jeff for the feedback. The graphics portion is what always gets me as my "eye" isn't the best for the colors. The flowers were originally on a darker background, but I lightened it and have been busy and hadn't gotten back to it yet.

I have been thinking about just a simple design in between the posts as a seperator, it's on an hr div, so I'm still working on what to do with that. I hope to get some time this week to make some more changes to the site and if you know of a good gallery system for Wordpress, I really could use some help there as I'm not sure what is the easiest to automatically resize the pics and be able to place them into subgalleries.

Gx3, thanks for the kind words and yep, miracles do happen!

I was wondering about that one too, but figured I can't (and didn't) say anything. I was really curious as the default was set to 1em...

Maybe you can think that I am stuck with this but you can use a favicon for browsers maybe a flower or so

Gos1,

Thanks for pointing that out to me! I forgot to put the link back in when I redesigned the site...I don't know how I overlooked it!

Hi, I agree about the header- it doesn't match well with the colors of the rest on the site. Very touching content. May be you will think to add a pictures gallery as was said before or some "childish" stuff. Good luck to little Natalie and God bless you.

I would like to thank everyone for their feedback about my daughters site. I really liked the rose images that I had in it, but you all were correct about the header image. It really did look crappy!

I have modified the header and tweaked some of the other items on the site.

Would you all be able to take another look and let me know if it looks better? I think it really does, especially the header portion.

Thanks again!
