I launched the site golferstube.com a few months ago. The purpose of the site is to offer online golf lessons with a youtube style. I was looking for some expert advice. Any suggestions would be great. I want a site that stands out from other golf websites. Thanks for your time, Ryan

I would suggest making the upper left logo larger and right justifying the menu under the graphic. The only page that would be a problem would be the first page with the tree graphic jumping up. I also think the background should be changed out for a nice grass golf green photo realistic background.

I think it is really a really great site, but...

1. the logo image should be bigger
2. the menu text is a bit small
3. the search box on the auctions page should carry through the whole site

Overall, i would give it a 8 out of 10

That looks like one great service. The site is easy to navigate, and it is pretty clear how to get to the service you are looking for. I'd say the user experience is very good.

The one weakness is text size. With smaller devices and higher resolution screens, some may have difficulty reading 11 pixel and smaller text. Sadly, IE users must go through hoops to increase text size. IE7 does have a zoom facility, but the tree in the header gets decapitated when you use it.

Similarly, you can't increase text size in Gecko (FF, NS, Moz) or Safari much before the site breaks.

Nice crisp and clean site Ryan.
I agree with the others about the text size in your top navigation being to small.
Also, have you considered adding a rollover effect to your navigation?

Overall though, very nice site.

Awesome site. Maybe the videos shouldn't auto-run? Maybe? I don't know, really great site.

Viewed 800 x 600 screensize with firefox and firefox firebug for validation
Great site - good idea - nice banner
Menu - text size, mentioned previously
- may want to add mouseover
- may want to add background color on mouseover
Don't know if important but you have 20 validation errors
May want to improve on description and keywords
(search for free keyword suggestion tool on the internet, then use it,
keywords are not always what you think they would be)
Really like the site
hope this helps

Nice site

[+] cool banners, headers, flash....

[-] main menu, and the right navigation like "Online Golf Lessons, Online Golf Auctions... etc." Icons. I think it should have a color because it does not fit in black and gray because your site have a color theme of Green.
[-] add more content on what you are for this website, so that the visitors will not just look and for them to learn something about it.

What do the experts on this site think? Any suggestions? I see some changes that I think I should make but I wanted to see what people on here thought first. Thanks Ryan

Merged new request with existing topic since it was less than 3 months ago (as per our Policy & Procedure)

I don't remember looking at this the first time you posted so I don't remember what it looked like before.

This is a really nice looking site. I like the horizontal band effect with the photo and the outer background. The main text is clear and it's immediately easy to understand what this site offers. The text in the main body area is a little on the small side, and the "GolfersTube.com" headline is kind of redundant. Try creating a more attractive headline that sells a benefit to the viewer.

The logo is good enough (I'd probably lose the golfball o effect - that's a bit over the top. Also possibly remove that darker blue extra swoosh).

The side menu should be widened so the text doesn't break after every line. That looks too choppy as it ias, although I understand that you're trying to line it up with the size of the icons. Maybe even right aligning that text would be better. Also find a way to close up that ackward space bettween that sidebar and the body text - it's good to have white space but not when it looks unintentional like this.

The colour scheme is good but I feel that the background green is clashing with the green in the photo. Try changing that background to match colours pulled from the photo. The blue is a nice touch.

On the secondary pages, the photo next to the logo doesn't really fit with the design very well. It's sort of shaped like a banner ad too. You could either remove it entirely for a clean look, or make it expand all the way across as on the home page (only not as high). It would also be good to use different photos on each page. I think it would be fine to just remove it becuase most pages have photos or videos on them already that draw attention.

The blog should keep the same design as the rest of the site.

Good job overall Smiling

good site

nice mixture of colours and of course on theme
Personally the only changes I would consider making are:

1) Make that large image of the green/flag (the one with the golf ball rolling in) slightly smaller, so you can see the context below it without scrolling
2) Not have the videos auto play, make it clear that they are a demo/example/preview etc and a large play button
3) The scolling context is cool, but a little difficult to read and thus makes it unuasble. maybe pick random news topics and display them almost as they are now in a row, but have them fixed
each time the page re-loads it picks random ones from a selection

Again, good site all round!
And really smart logo!

Great design overall with just a couple of ideas:

1: Make the videos not start when the page loads
2: Use a marquee plugin to make the scrolling text perfectly smooth

The design is great!

I like the site the navigation you have set up makes it easy to find your way around the site. Also you did a good job on consistency from page to page, and the overall look is wonderful.
Do you plan on adding a members section or charging anything eventually for services, or advice. I like the scalability of the forums, as well as the community feel to the site, which helps in a sport like golf, that is also a past time. You might want to consider how you want to deal with the interactivity of the site though. I don't particularly feel that the site encourages visitors to play an active role in learning about the services the site provides.

It looks great the one thing I have a problem with is the text for the navigation on the right side it just seems awkwardly big compared to the body text I find your service very useful and at a great cost keep it up.

Very nice. I particularly liked the moving water. It could be done better though.

Your site is extremely attactive. The colors match the golf theme perfectly. I would like to make just a suggestion or two though.
I think the type on the navigation bar should be slightly larger , making it a little easier to read, especially for us older folks.
Also, from a design standpoint I think if you took the image on the first page, enlarged it, and ghosted (faded) it to about 20% of its actual color and made it the background, instead of the green bars it would look fabulous. One more thing if you took the logos at the bottom and centered them instead of off to one side. The water moving in the photo is awesome, and you have a real winner here.Great Job!

The scrolling text in the middle is hell of distracting for me, if you could lower the scroll rate I think I would be a lot better. Other than that it is a very appealing site I like the layout and colors. Plan on having advertising on the bottom logos?

WoW is all what i can say. Your website's design is so simple and beatifull. Navigation menu is easy to find and easy to use. Your sponsor names,IMHO, should be positioned in center, but it's up to you where you want it to be. And you have chosen a succesfull domain name. A 9.5/10.
