For "Dontfart.com"

What's the purpose of the splash page (other than more ad space)? Most people find those annoying because it just takes them longer to get to what they actually want.

I don't like how the rest of the site is in a popup.

Have you tested the site in Firefox? A lot of the content overlaps when you mouseover the navigation bar.

You might want to think about cleaning up the design. There's too much content and it's not very well organized.

OK where to start. I like the photo images up the top they are very good.

Here's the problem - I don't know what your site is about. After looking through it I figure it's a site to buy stuff at. With a name like don't fart the visitors have to be very clear very quickly what the site is for. I assumed it was fart jokes or t-shirts or fridge magnets or something (I have a very base sense of humour).

A couple of the previous comments are right too
1. you can't have every page opening in a new window, it looks like your going to a different website.
2. there is too much content competing for attention and it isn't organised. It all looks just like ads

Also, every linked page has a completely different feel and design, makes it look even more like your linking to different websites, leaving me confused as to what the original page was for.

Basically I get the idea but you need to clear up the purpose and message of the site and organise/simplify the content and theme. Then I think you will have an effective site.

PS centre the content of the page it's all over on the left.

The images across the top very very fuzzy (compressed to much)
There is a big black box beside the enter here link and you have things like ads, bookmark us, and make us your homepage, all crying out desperate (or newbie).
The enter here text is a bad new window popup, your splash page is already pointing to affiliate link farm and this popup plays right along with it, normally I wouldn't go any further. luckly I know how to get out of these popup windows.
Your testing - quick all doesn't work in ff (and am not going to change browsers to see if it works in them).
the side links, from news down doesn't display backgrounds, only text over the previous base which isnt readable.

The site is just way to hectic, to many moving parts, to many sublinks of different styles, to confusing to use. You also have some dead links, don't ask me where as I'd never be able to remember how I got there.

Hi Again.....I am reading the comments and taking in all the information. As I can tell not everyone is really understanding what the site is about....its an informational portal....so every site is linked and appears in a separate window as it is not our content....we get users from A to B within 3 clicks.

The site was designed to be used by main stream users which are using IE and even Netscape and at a resolution of 800x600 and as such there is no scrolling required.

The pop up window is created to ensure we have more room to deploy our design as well as in higher relsolutions users can use our site as a nagivational tool. The links for bookmarking and Make Us your HomePage are marketing tools....anyone that does not have them are missing the mark when it comes to marketing their site.

Yes, we have Ads.....really how else do you think you are going to make money?....lol

Keep posting comments!

Unfortunately not too ken on the idea of the splash page and then the real sie opening up in a pop up window. Good idea but you may want to review the way you deliver the content.

Neat idea, more or less. But it is way too cluttered. And I hate the fact that it loads in a pop-up window. But if you take care of the pop-up issue, that will also give you a lot more room to work with, making it easy to become less cluttered.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the feedback before! I have made some changes to the site, starting with the main page. There is no longer a splash page, instead I have created a main page that should be easier on the eyes. I have also decided to forego the pop-up window for the main content.

I have also added a new search box area that is still being tested, but it makes navagating the site even faster. I have also added a random site generated.

Last time I posted I only got 5 or 6 people posting comments, though there was a lot of people clicking through to read the posting, so I am hoping to see more people's comments.

I am launching the site live and doing starting some buzz in Toronto, Ontario on Monday, March 27,2006. Therefore, I have added the weather and other links on the main page.

Okay, not a bad concept. Keep the design, I only reccomend that you make the point of the site clear. Right now if I did not study your site for review and just stumbled upon it I would leave right away! The portals and sponsers need to be made more clear of what they are. Not just other websites, informational pages. The biggest mistake a webmaster can make is not making the site's purpose clear.

Don't like it at all. Don't like sites like this. The web should be kept clean, although, sadly it is not. Just had to say.

Please provide details with your comments. The above holds no value as I don't have a glue what they are referring to. The site's layout is clean....no? There is no adult content and there is a direct link that states that very fact.

I dont remember what the other layout was like.

I kind of like this one but think a colour (or gradient) on the tabs at least could set it off, maybe a funky colour, bright green, orange, purple or even grey

Do you really think the Internet needs one more site cluttered with advertisements and links to videos of "sexy girls"?

I don't remember what the other layout was like either, but this one is definitely too cluttered. There's way too much going on in there.

Also, the strictly black and white theme looks extremely amateurish. Throw some accent colors in there.

I wasnt sure what I was letting myself in for. the site name is eyecatching, just need to hit first time visitors with what you do, a bit better. Isnt it 50 milliseconds to make an impression according to the usability guy?The first thing that hit me was a big empty black box.

The bookmark bit is good. The random site, I guess is a hard feature to find, but it is a neat idea. It also sums up your site for me. A random place for Shoppers randomly wandering the internet aimlessly looking for choices for various products. But why use yours? It is content not looks that get people to use you. What have you got that Kelkoo and the rest havent? Is the search amazing, or the stores special or easy to work through? I don´t know the answer.

But you have an idea presumably what your USP is, so go with it

It is clear what your site does, but the black background makes me run and clear my cache.
The weather report is not showing well in Firefox.

It's a little messy and there are too many ads. The black and white can cause eye strain and make it difficult to find what you're looking for.

I like the general idea of the site, and that's a great domain that you could really do a lot with. I would minimize the size of your banner ads, and possibly the quantity on some pages. Too many ads creates confusion and you won't make a lot of money doing it that way. "less is more" when it comes to banner ads. Text ads can be placed around the site instead of all the banners and that will help with SEO as well.

Hope this helps you.
