I have been working on building a website for a small photographic design company and would like some feedback from other webmasters on what changes I can make to improve what I have so far.

You can view the live website here http://pixngrafix.co.uk and I would appreciate any advice.

(Please note that although the site is live, it is still a work in progress)

Well that much I already know... would you care to elaborate on that or were you just trying to sneak your own link in under the radar?

It's based on HTML. Members can only view but can't post. I think it will good if you want to make it for some specific group like your company's people or country people. But if you need huge traffic then I must say to go with dynamic.

Thank you for your comment Valentine it's much appreciated, I must admit I'm a novice at building websites but I'm learning as I go along... at current I'm trying to get to grips with the PHP aspect and expect to be able to put some sort of guestbook on there for comments. Smiling

A few suggestions:
I felt it would be better if you remove the button from the first page. By clicking anywhere on the first page, the user go to the default page.
The color you chose is not attractive. As a multi-media company, you should have lots of graphic design work. But on the website, there is no graphic at all. Content is important, but the graphics help to balance out the text, breaking it up and making it more readable. They also support the text. A website with huge chunks of text and little or no graphics will not attract many visitors, so I strongly suggest you add some graphics to the website.
For the product page, you should add some finished work to support your content. If I am a buyer, I would not trust a website company to do my business if they don’t have any finished project. It would better if you can add some links to support your sale.
You need improve the content of your website. Content is definitely the key to website success! If you want to attract more people to your Web site, you're going to have to woo them with good Web content.
Overall, the website is easy to navigate and understanding.

A few suggestions on possible improvement:

tab shows the page name (Home for example), you may want to prefix with the site name.
similarly if you save the link, the name will be "home" (for example), it hsould be your site name.

contact us: phone will be answered during business hours, which are not provided (to suit the client?)

inconsistent fonts and font sizes across pages

There is a significant amount of inconsistency between about us, product and service. It looks like about us is intended to list everything you do, not just part of it. But I question if you really want to duplicate everything.
I would suggest using a consistent vocabulary (e.g. software design or web design or both?
wedding _service_ is listed under product, etc)

why photography in the footer links and not under services?

the footer links: inconsistent. why some are repeated from top menu, why some are not.

put your css in a seperate file and re-use it rather than copy it on every page (and have different styles on every page). avoid inline styles.

page is rather bland for a multimedia site. You should showcase you web-design expertise here.

I assume there will be sample pictures, links to sites you have done, etc to show what you can do. This will help convince people you can do what you say you do.

I find your site offers a lot of seamingly unrelated products and services. It's hard to know what you actually do.

gracecui and land0125 I thank you very much for your comments and suggestions, as I said in my OP the site may be live at the moment but it is still very much a work in progress... in fact I found out this morning that the customer has requested a new overall design for the site and will be supplying me with custom graphics so this should be interesting... I will bear your comments in mind and endeavour to apply them wherever possible.

What you can expect:

No more footer links,
A much more graphic interface,
A more simplified structure with smooth page transitions,
Maybe a couple of surprises.

Also please note that I expect to be switching from Microsoft Expression Web 3 to Dreamweaver at some point in the near future (yay another program to get to grips with)
