New website design!

Hi folks,

I've just uploaded my new website design. Hopefully it's a lot cleaner now and easier to navigate. It's was way cluttered before and probably didn't showcase my illustration work in the best way as it was more cartoony than serious illustration.

What does everyone think?

everything is excellent on the site, usually i see some things that i would change on any website but i really like what you have done with everything. Just build up the portfolio a little more with more pictures

Thanks Mike

I have a few changes to make. A few people have said that the slideshow image swap top left is distracting when veiwing the portfolio pages.

It needs to be more obvious what number portfolio you are viewing so I could replace the slideshow with a close up of one of the portfolio images and have 1 to 7 numbered underneath the previous and next links showing the portfolio page number you are on as a larger graphic with the other numbers remaining as links.

Info page text is too cluttered.

Very nice! I like both your layout and your work. The only critical comment I have is that it's over too quickly. I would suggest to add a few more options on the menu to tell a little bit more about what inspires your work, why you do what you do, etc.

Anyway, that aside. I like it!

Thanks, you make an interesting point. I do have some step-by-step walk throughs that I may upload.

I'm not into that kind of illustration but the site design and layout work well. "My kids love it!" I would agree with the slideshow image swap top left is distracting. I also think maybe there is a better way to layout your Portfolio but i'm not getting any ideas, other than it seem's like there would be a better layout with less next clicking? I like the way you have the mouseover layed out just seems like it's missing something. Also have you tried to introduce another color into the mix with the color you have now to see what it would look like? One last thing 4 errors on Contact page that could be easily corrected for validation. All in all, I like the site;)

Thanks for pointing out the errors in the contact page. I'm on it!

In response to your colours suggestion, the old site was represented by my 4 Elements characters and each page menu and banner would be a different colour (orange, blue, green and yellow) depending on which of the 4 characters was featured in the side nav. It did actually work quite well but I wanted to stick to the orange only this time to tie in with the business card design/logo.

Has anything come to you yet? I had a good think about it and can't really think of what else to do.

To be honest, I have not. This week has been a little hectic for me. I know I have seen some websites that had a lot of pictures and the way the had it set up worked well. I would suggest visiting some Photographers websites to see what works well.

Thanks very much

Yes some of them are created in Illustrator and some Photoshop but all are created from sketches first.

Cheers!
I took the slideshow off of the portfolio pages (top left) as most people found it distracting when looking at the portfolio images or do you mean a slideshow for the main portfolio images themselves?

If so that's a good idea but I'm quite fond of the rollover process as it is at the moment.

Well done. It is a very calming website, very classy and laid back. Nice.

I dont know that I like the bottom bar navigation, I found I was doing a lot of mousing around and hitting the botttom was a stretch at times

Nice work ! It looks you are highly creative with the colors and the design. I think the site is perfectly validated without any errors. I cannot comment over the layout. It seems like a professional work managed by a team. Kudos to HIM if there's only one master behind this excellent layout.

You have to play w/ the font colors on the info page, it's kinda confusing between the hyperlinks and the text. But the illustrations are awwweeessssommmeee!

Clean & simple, a perfect example of how a simple modest site can be better & more tasteful than a fine tuned extravagant site! The site layout is like a nice plating w/ garnish for the main entrée, leaving the content to speek for itself; thus making the content even more powerful than it alread was! My first impression was that of congenialness; loved it!
