I am not fond of the way you coded the site, I assume you did not hardcode it yourself because it is poorly formated. Since most people wont notice this I suppose its no problem.

I am not fond of the graphics either as they are not very crisp..

its ok for your first site i suppose.

Your images don't load on your page and there is no background color set.

Using MS Frontpage and putting all your code on one line may not be a good idea either. It might save space and cause a lot of trouble for people who want to critique your site if your code is all on one line, but is it really worth all that trouble?

Thank you all for your comments. For the one line code I used HTML Compress to make the page smaller.

I'm still learning how to HTML... till then I'm using copy and paste.(need to improve) Smiling

It's nice to get good strong remarks. Makes me to learn and improve my site. Thank you.

I think you should work on the interface here as well. At first glance it's pretty hard to figure out what the site is about and what I'll find there. I had to click around to find out. What you need is a nice template framework for all your pages. This framework should have a header of some sort (often a logo or graphic) and a navigation menu. Below that you would have an explanation of what the site is about and what the user will find there. The front page navigation idea you're using is a good one but it's just not working here. A site like this needs more explanation for the uneducated user.

Your pages should all have proper titles that indicate what they are. When I click on "children" for example, I am taken to a page called "colour 1". The home page has a title "citralekha" - I have no idea what that is! Page titles are really important for search engines so it's important to have good ones if you want to get a good ranking.

Good idea to put the disclaimer in about the coopyright. A lot of those images probably are public domain since they're so old, but it can never hurt to put in some fine print.

I know that this is the 'under contruction page' but if you were to build a website with the knowledge and principles that you display in that page, I think you might run into trouble.

Always use properly formatted text.

PS, i like the ~~~~~~s. Make it look real Indian Wink

the ~~~ seems redundant.
the little figurine on the bottom is too.
the graphics take too long to load (and I have broadband). For example, http://citralekha.com/gods/verse.html could be done with CSS rather than having text in a graphic.
Perhaps more consistency. At least, the backgrounds the same color.

This website feels like it's from 1997. try not to use borders in your tables (personal aesthetic taste).

good luck!
