I want to know what is this Technique Yahoo.com have used in it seaching area e.g when i or u click at web or images or video or directory or local or news it changes color and have open the related search critarea with in the page and quickly.

That is just some javascript, and when you click it change the HTML of the area below, nothing overly clever.
