You'll probably remember that we're switching to Drupal from vBulletin. The new site is almost ready, what it needs now is a lot of testing to make sure everything works before we move over completely. This is why we're having a public beta.
Please have a look at the new site: http://test.webmaster-forums.net The username and password are both test. Things we'd like you to try:
- logging in (your TWF username/password should work) and logging out;
- writing posts;
- editing your own posts;
- replying to other people's posts;
- use the smileys;
- looking at people's profiles;
- changing your own profile;
- just generally try to break stuff and use the system;
This is the one time when you should try to break things. We'll even let you gloat about what you've broken, and how clever you are, in this thread.
There are a couple of things we already know about:
- the usual Drupal forum system bugs (that are fixed in the next version). #new links not working across pages, and when creating a new post the poster is always redirected to the first page of the thread. If you don't know what this means, just ignore it, you'll understand what I mean if you ever hit one of these bugs.

- Speed - it's a bit slow, because I've just imported all the data. It'll get better with time;
Give it a try, let us know what you think of the new TWF!

Anyone got any comments? Am going to be moving us over very soon, so if you know of some problem with the new site you'd better mention it now!

Well we've decided to go for the upgrade. NOW.
Hold onto your hats, and don't bother to start writing any posts, the forum will be going down sometime in the next few hours (maybe even minutes)!

Well we're onto the new forum system. Hope everybody likes it, it's a bit late to complain if you don't.
We decided not to bother including e-mail notifications of changes to threads (the Drupal module to do this is undergoing an overhaul and is quite unstable anyway). So instead, there's an RSS feed for each thread. Everything else should be pretty self-explanatory, you can still login with your TWF username and password.
If you get any problems though: do let us know! We'd love to get some feedback on the new system too, just make sure it's constructive and we'll be happy to hear it.

Just one more thing: your signatures might be ones from a couple of months ago. That was my mistake, please just update them.
Sorry about that, if you get any problems or have comments do mention them (in this thread, or a new one).

Also, the avatars are being resized via CSS. If yours looks distorted just resize it and re-upload. To do this, you need to find your profile. It should be at
http://www.webmaster-forums.net/users/{{yourusername}}
You can also scroll down to the bottom of this page under the "Post new comment" area. You should see "Your name:" here - that links to your profile.
Then you can use the edit tab to edit any of your profile fields including uploading a new avatar and changing your signature.
Jeeves - can we get an "edit profile" link in the navigation menu?
Let us know if you have any more questions about how to do things in the new system.

Not a huge deal, but is there any sort of "Mark all as read" link because there are tons of posts that I have really already read that are showing up as new, and I'm wondering if there's somewhere to knock them all out. If not, I guess I can just click through them all.

Not at the moment, I can implement it in a few days time though (seems to be one of those features which no-one's been interested enough to implement in Drupal).
Need to get the old URLs redirecting properly before anything else. Would you mind holding on for a few days? Just use the 'Recent posts' link in the sidebar for now.

Yeah, it's fine. Like I said, no big deal, just a little inconvenience I can deal with to improve the website.
