Hi

Excuse the somewhat random question, but I'm curious about what is/isn't allowed on the internet as far as "hacking" is concerned.

It seems that as long as you distribute freeware programs and tutorials, and don't encourage illegal activity you are within the law? Is it legal to display virus source code? I happen to run a hacking website, and it's very interesting to see how different programs work, and many people find the workings of a virus fascinating.

Any ideas?

Not sure but would guess its a very thin line, especially if someones code was being shown/used. i.e: 'ideal to bring down microsoft'.

Showing how a virus works is one thing, giving the code to make one is another. The two are pretty much the same but kiddie scripters see it as a xmas present. A section on security would probably make your cause a bit more legite

your host would probably be a better one to ask, as a complaint could see you shut down

<?bhb if(broken){ echo("It wasn't me Smiling "); } ?>

Some people are like slinkies, they dont really serve any purpose but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs ...

What Busy said. It depends on a lot of variables. Legalities stretch to an enormous array of topics depending on what business your in... even if it's non-profit.

If you have the means to afford at least a few hours of consultation, meeting with an attorney is probably not a bad idea.
