What happened to IPB? (Invision Power Board). I administered a Forum a couple years back, and we used IPB. We got it for free, I believe from the company website. Now that I'm looking to create a forum of my own, its not free anymore? Do they not offer free software anymore?

Whatother options do I have?

Thanks,
-Rusty

Nah it's about $80 or something but that's for life, no supscription. I use it and it's great i think.

2.0.0 was their last free version, they decided to make it paid after that. You can still get it from someone who downloaded it when it was free though. Just Google it or ask around.

PHPBB is on of the most popular and it's still free. It has, however had a bunch of security issues lately.

SMF is one of fastest growing now and is also free.

Not to mention punBB, lightweight, standards compliant but not feature rich. http://www.punbb.org/

I've heard bad things about the phpBB development team, blaming PHP itself for security issues and such. Well am sure a kick up the butt will fix things, nice thing is that it's Open Source so they can't falsely blame anyone. Smiling
