hey guys. i am in need of a menu script for my website. i need one that begins with only a few main catagories but then has expandable/dropdown/whatever menus with many items for each main catagory. if i didnt explain that well tell me i will be glad to try and explain it better.
i plan on looking at http://hotscripts.com but there are just SO MANY scripts there, i thought i would try here first to see if yall had any favorites, maybe i could save some time and trouble
as far as the script, im not an expert webmaster and dont know much about scripting languages. ive had a little experience with php and javascript but thats about it. basically anything will work as long as i dont have to install anything new on my server. i have php installed. and just out of personal preference i dont want to use java

The usual site I go to for scripts is hotscripts and Javascript Kit so try those, I'm sure you'll find one that you like there.
You might also want to try Dynamic Drive as well.
Javascript Kit or Dynamic Drive has the script you are looking for, I can't remember which one it is but I remember seeing it in there.

The downside of these types of menus is that they don't tend to be cross-browser compatible. Someone did find a good one though, I'll have to see if I can find the thread.....

The kicker is to give a user two methods. Say you have a drop down list of departments that they can access. Well you would also have departments as a link that takes you to a webpage with the links on it.

Also bear in mind that SEs wont follow links if they are hidden in a javascript funtion/file. Therefore you should have a set of text links somewhere on the page, say at the bottom, so they can follow the links around the site from there.

It is possible to create search engine friendly drop down menu's by linking up an unordered list with a bit of DHTML. I'm sure i remember finding a tutorial a while back... I think it may have been on a listapart.com or something...
