"Hit" counter

I used the free counter from sitemeter.com but it doesn't seem to have been working for some days now.
I get the ubiquitous "The page cannot be displayed" when trying to visit their site.
Anyone know if they have gone bust, or anything else?
If it is defunct I don't suppose there's a way to recover the last count?

And what recommendations does anyone have for other free, and simple, counters?

There is no way to recover the number. Unless you want to try and contact the compony directly.

You could always put a default number of visits once you apply for a new counter...
You can set where to start counting ... e.g. 0000 or 9999

Yes Demon, I know, but I don't want to do that.
I shall just hope, for the moment, that sitemeter.com is experiencing temporary problems. In the meantime I shall have a look around for alternatives.

Hey its still an honest deed, see you are showing your previous number which is true, only in a new counter...

Make your own - if you have server side available (PHP, ASP etc)

All a counter is, is an update of a database field. hotscripts.com no doubt has some fancy ones

Maybe thats why hes asking about these free counters because he doesnt have server side systems available... Its possible however to have all the counter links available on hotscripts.com...

Just find another hit counter out there. Right now, you have a lot of choices to select from.
