Greetings!

I'm wondering how to put an image in my viewer's address bar. It's a little hard to explain what I'm talking about, but http://www.google.com is a good example.

When you go to Google, there is an image of a 'G' infront of the URL.

Thanks!

That is called a favicon and it only appears if the person has bookmarked your site.

Thanks! I'll do some checking into that. It's not a big concern for my sites, but it's just one of those little things I've been wondering about.

I myself am in the process of getting this done.

I no that when you make a favicon you must use a proper icon maker and not a paint program.

To be honest, they may look nice and all that, but I don't think it adds anything to the site in terms of "wow" factor.

Just my 2 pence! Sticking out tongue

There is a value in the favicon beyond "WOW" -- it helps with branding, sure, but it also helps users by marking bookmarks (in some browsers) and providing a visual identification of where they are.

Netscape 7 (for windows) displays them even if the site is not bookmarked.

Myself, I like them.
