One good way to make nice icons if you're wanting to use them for site navigation etc. is to use dingbat fonts and apply styles and colours to them. http://www.dingbatpages.com is a good site for dingbats.

Yeh, i always use dingbats.. there are a few sites out there with dingbats on .. just thought i would say heh.
