hello all-

i'm interested in what goes into developing a gambling website. searching for the information on google invariably turns up sites that want me to wager my money.

has anyone here coded a gambling site? if so, what goes into it? i'm imagining a bit of Java that calls to a server which keeps track of users information, bets, etc.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks.

My wife and I are currently in the thought process of creating a gambling section for her website, so we've done some searching. You can get the program you need from various vendors that sort of lend out the technology that in essence run from their servers in order to do all the calculations, record keeping, and such. Plus there's some sort of legal thing about where your running the gambling from (geo.) and so these vendors run thiers from other countries. They charge a percentage of the profits but, the software is very customizable. I can't think of the spicific company name's now, my wife has this info. Email if you need further assistance.
The only other way that I could think of doing this gambling thing, that I would rather do, for 100% profit. Is to design and develop one from Flash. This is very possible and very complicated. But there's still the issue of legalities. Is gambling legal in your state. Have you check to see if you are required to carry a license. You will, after all, be responsible for profits from gambling (electronic?). If all you've found from your research so far are sites wanting you to gamble, it sounds like you need to do a lot more research.
I know this isn't much help. But, this is what we've gotten from our interest so far.

I don't know anything about gambling sites, but do use Flash. Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia's article on Macromedia Flash:

Quote: Macromedia Flash, or simply Flash, refers to both the Macromedia Flash Player and to a multimedia authoring program used to create content for it as well as games or movies created using the program. The Flash Player, developed and distributed by Adobe Systems (formerly by Macromedia), is a client application available in most web browsers. It features support for vector and raster graphics, a scripting language called ActionScript and bidirectional streaming of audio and video.

I know that technically it's not legal within the US. As I understand it, some companies get around this (at least in part) by using overseas web hosting.
