Hi everyone, I'm having the hardest time figuring this out and I don't think it should be so hard.

I'd like to tell a linked file to open in Microsoft Frontpage. I think I need to know what the file protocol or (url prefix) is for Microsoft Frontpage.

For example, for Filemaker Pro, it is FM7:
so, if I create a link in a web page that points to FM7://134.43.34.34/data/database.fp7

The user's computer will know that when the user click's on the link, it should open the file "database.fp7" on the server 134.43.34.34 in the web server folder "data" with the application Filemaker Pro.

Is there a way I can do the same for Microsoft Frontpage ?

thanks! Smiling

Microsoft Frontpage doesn't have a specific file type, it's just the universal .html, .htm, .asp, .php etc. The user configures how to open these files on their computer, so you can't control it. The answer is no.

hold on.. I'm not talking about the file suffix.. html, php, etc..

I'm talking about the part that comes usually where the HTTP might be..

if you change that part you can get a link to be handled by other programs.. (e.g. FTP)
(or FM7 for filemaker FM7://website/tomas.doc would try to open tomas.doc with Filemaker even though it's not a Filemaker file.. I want to know if there is a similar protocol for Frontpage... i have this feeling there is.)

Why are you trying to do this?

Answer is no as frontpage would have to be set to default the extension (any extension) and by default it doesn't have one unless set by user.
