wow.. so opera really is the fastest borwser around.. however i think i am pretty happy with IE 7 at home and FF at work

Am happy to see Opera is first, it's also got far more features than all the other browsers too.

Have you tried the new Opera 9 Beta Roo? Things just got a lot faster in Opera, like lightning...!

I know am biased about Opera! The web developer toolbar is very good, as is Venkman for JavaScript debugging, still I find myself swearing at Mozilla because mouse gestures don't work, and the implementation of tabs is really muted compared to Opera. Now that's how tabs should be!

Plus, with widgets I can now read Garfield comics while no-one's looking at work.

I don't know what Jeeves was talking about with the tabs but I find FF's way of handling windows to be really baffling. Like if you get a pop-up or a new window it opens in a new window automatically, not in a tab. I think I had to get a plugin to make it open everything in a new tab. And even then pop-up windows behaved weirdly. It's not possible to have windows at less than full screen in FF. In Opera I can restore any window within the application and resize it how I'd like. New windows and pop-ups always open in a new tab.

Nah, on Firefox there's a setting in Tools that you can check and it will open all new windows in a tab.

I thought it was really weird that it would behave that way by default. What's the point of having tabs if you have to tell it explicitly to actually use them? I know I had to download a plugin to get tabs to behave the way I wanted to but I forget what it was that it couldn't do...

Yeah bit bemusing it's not turned on by default - maybe they wanted people to feel at home with the browser after moving up from IE, but still weird. They should maybe have a pop up on your first time running FF to ask a few Q's about how you want it to behave, not having to look through options.

You couldn't re-arrange tabs, also there was no easy way to just get a tab. Thinking some more Firefox never opens with a tab ready, it acts like IE at first.

Agreed Daveyboy, compatibility would be the reason, although totally hiding features seems like a very silly thing to do. Especially since as soon as IE releases their next version everyone will be all excited about tabs like no other browser had them before.

I bet there'll be some tech-wannabies at work who try to broach that subject with me. Grrrr!
