Hi every one,

I'm new at this forum and I bring a dificult question (...or so I think)

As most of my visitors are from Portugal (Europe) I need to find the really most fast web host service for me in order to compensate the distance.

Why not host in Portugal you may ask?
Because Hosting services have bad support and operate T3 lines max (only ISP have more and from those only one hosts 3rd part services)

Price is not a criteria.
My concern is fast, fast and
Up, up and always up

As I will only be hosting my homepages, not the services I provide through parnerships, complexity is not an issue too.
The homepage will then link to other services, partners, etc. but it will get hit by many tens of thousands every day.

What should I look for?
1 - A service standing next to a backbone in New York (guess this is were Europe and America connect)

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance for your help

Hi!

I would look for someone through the web hosting directories.

Here is one:

www.hostsearch.com

It really doesn't matter if they have a T1 line or a T3 line, but how many people they host on a server and how many servers are on a line.

You need to talk to clients that are using the company and see what kind of quality they have received, and how much it is up.

One thing that makes a difference is what kind of servers the hosting company uses. There are cheap ones that cost around $4,000 and then there are ones that cost $80,000. Ask the web hosting company what kind of servers they have. Silicon Graphic Servers are high quality servers.

Curtis,

I just wanted to add to your post. SUN servers are by far the best, in my experience, for UNIX servers. They don't come cheap for a good one though. And DELL are, in my experience again, the best for NT servers. That is my experience, and although we don't use SUN servers for our UNIX hosting, we do use DELL servers for our NT hosting and they are the best out there.
