Could anyone please tell me how to make it so that my server would send a pager notification to me right after anything unusal(down?) happens? Do I need a script for this or is there a software that I could download from anywhere?

How about email notification via a pager? Is there a cgi script that does this?

I would really really appreciate your replies! Smiling

Well, there are a few CGI scripts. But they require that your host supports some sort of dial-out connection. As they'd have to call your pager. If you have a pager with an email gateway, a script would not be too hard to write.

There are also services such as:

My company uses a custom programmed software program that we run from our in-house server, along with NetWhistle which actually notify's us by pager. We also have a script which forwards the page to the correct tech based on the time of day.

There are two services that I have used in the past. Neither is particularly perfect, unfortunately:

www.netmechanic.com
www.redalert.com

Also, there's a software program that we're using now for monitoring called Servers Alive. It's a great program that is free if you're monitoring less than 10 services. You can get it at www.serversalive.com.

Good luck!
