Hello,
I am currently building a website dedicated to a group of DJ's.
A section of the site will be hosting DJ mixes for free download. The mixes will be roughly 30 to 50 MB in size and I imagine there will be quite a few of them (Im expecting roughly 20 to 30 downloads per day).
The site make use of PHP and ASP.
Can anyone point me in the right direction of a host that offers high bandwidth and storage for a resonable price.
Im working on a budget of around £100 ($190) per year.
Any help will be much appreciated
Thank You

You could upload all the files to free webhosts and link directly to the download from your site.

i do agree with this to! You dont have to worry for bandwidth with this method as they are actually a fileserver for you and the bandwidth you have to worry about is your homepage.

See now that's what you COULD do. Most hosts, however, have you agree to their "Terms & Conditions" which most state "Movie and music files are not supported with free hosting".
You're probably going to want to go to a host that has both high bandwidth and high disk space at an affordable price. You can go to either SurfSpeedy or Canaca for that. Do a google search on those two hosts if you need the links. I don't want to just "link" to a hosting site...I'd rather give out a referral link if you know what I'm sayin'.
Good luck in your venture.

Is it just me, or does that size per file (30-50 megs) seem high??
As per what you gave, you are going to have a range of 18.6G/month traffic to 46.5G/month traffic. Where I have hosting at, their best "shared server" plan is 40Gig/Month in traffic, from there it jumps to 200Gig a month for their minimum dedicated server account.
Another big thing to look at is overall file storage limits. Make sure you will have plenty of room to grow there as well.

http://www.ace-host.net/ This is the best hosting I have found. You can get 5GB of storage and 50GB of bandwidth for $9.95 a month, even less if you pay for 1 or 2 years at a time.
They have excellent uptime and I have had no problems with lag on my sites with them. This is full featured hosting and even includes fantastico auto install scripts.

Are they mixes of other peoples music? If so, you'll be breaching copyright laws and you need permission from all of the artists who you have remixed.
What about having them as .torrent files? Then the bandwidth will be distributed among people downloading the files...

I don't have a host recommendation, but a recommendation on where to find a host. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/

Ya, I run a site that features DJ mix downloads as well, and you have to be careful. Make it very clear that licesnsed material is not welcome, and will be deleted if posted.
Good luck man
