I wonder if you trust feedbacks about activity of web hosting companies that are on their web sites. I have found this one on the web site of Onthespothosting.net:
Quote: "I always knew what I wanted with a web host. I finally found what I always wanted, and OTSH was the place I found it. I recommend OTSH to everyone seeking affordable hosting."

What is your attitude to this?

There are actually testimonials that are real, and some are not, you can try and look for the contact info of one of the person testifying and ask him/her personally.
Those quick uncreative ones dont work...

You know I tend to trust the testimonials that are on the web sites of the web hosting companies. But maybe I'm wrong here. I'd like to know how can I get in touch with the persons whose testimonials are on the web site of Onthespothosting.net?

Well, it's just my personal perception, but when I come to a site and see some reviews and photos there, I tend to believe them,
as for onthespothosting.net site, looks impressive, the IP of the site which is below this review shows that it's hosted in the Planet datacenter, this is where onthespothosting.net has its servers.

Well, passing judgments based on just feedbacks might not be a good idea, other important things to consider can be the number of domain names on their servers, having a live chat support system which is extremely important, answering emails in less than 24 hours, having a true 99% uptime status and other things.

If you don't trust testimonials that are on the web site of the web hosting company, you may contact these persons directly and find out everything you want about this or that company. I did it with 247-host.com, Webhostingbuzz.com and others.

So what did the clients of 247-host.com and Webhostingbuzz.com tell you? Did they confirm their feedbacks on the web sites of those companies?

I think most are real. But some are not. You just know some people will do anything to gain sales. I know people find them reassuring. I think overall they are real. The really gooey ones though I think are suspect.

If you are very uncertain on the credibility of testimonilas on those hosting sites, then maybe your fellow members here could just suggest their best hosting company bets. What do you think? Atleast you would readily know that these suggested hosting services were already tried by some of our fellow members

Personally, I don't trust anything any company says about themselves, even if they claim it's from other people. The only testimonials I would trust are the ones on third party servers. eBay Feedback is one example, because I know the company can't moderate them.

Go to the forums of the hosting company you are intereted in and ask questions there. I know that a lot of hosts allow rehistration for non-clients. Does webhostingbuzz.com and 247-host.com testimonials have links to clients' sites?

I don't trust testimonials full stop until I have reason to trust them.
Even testimonials on third party sites and eBay feedback can be manipulated.
Certainly testimonials within company forums are a little more trustworthy,
but if there isn't any or only a few bad ones then they're most likely heavily moderated.
I would say you are better off choosing a company that meets your demands,
that you like the look of, and doesn't make any farfetched statements.

I think that if testimonials are placed on the web site they have to contain information of person has written it. In this case I guess any testimonial will be easy to check.

the testimonials is a great thing to consider while choosing a host, however you should consider more features and the uptime of the web hosting provider and also check web hosting forums like this. Anyway you will never know till you try by yourself.

I think persons may trust the testimonials that are on the web sites of the web hosting companies. For example, A2hosting.com has the whole page that is dedicated to this issue.

I do not always trust the testimonies. I prefer to do y own research specifically on sites where you can see how many downtime their servers had, how old the company is, how many customers they have and try to call them to see how fast they respond and how they answer the questions you have.
