There's always the tried and true method: show some dedication, enroll in an actual education program at a good school, study hard, get good grades, learn a lot, graduate, perfect your skills through constant practice, gain experience, become very good and enjoy the success that it brings.

Seriously, that's the best way to do it.

Foregoing that, however, if you just want to learn how to build websites, first, get a book on HTML and CSS. Go through the tutorials in the book. I've found that the best way to learn how to build websites is to actually jump in head first and start doing it. You'll make mistakes, you'll get frustrated and in the process of figuring it all out, you'll learn. From there, you can start studying client- and server-side scripting languages, but don't go there until you get the HTML and CSS down. And as mentioned in the post before mine, there are very good learning resources online.

As for learning to design websites, again, my best advice is contained in my first paragraph. Unfortunately, I don't know any shortcuts or worthwhile books for actually mastering becoming a good designer. I've been doing it for 30 years (web design for about 15) and am still learning.

Well, I do not have much information about online sites which teach web designing. But I learnt it from my university.

I've heard the name of w3shools, someone else told me as well about this site, but didn't get much time to check it thoroughly.

If you want to learn it online, you can visit that website, it seems to be very popular, and you can do some other research as well.

However if you want to join some college/university, you can go for it as well. Do some research to find out good institutes in your area or may be asking some expert will also help you.

Yes, it is right that by practising HTML,CSS you can learn from basic which is necessary to build your fundamentals strong. After step by step you can move to designing tools like dremaweaver, photoshop etc. You can learn all this things from online tutorials.

well! Practice make improvement....I think you should take a course about web design. PHP and C# are the most important language for web development in next time. You also should learn about how to build up mobile website.
good luck!

I took a course online on a French site once and I was able to create my first websites. You can look for courses online in your native language. Take them one at a time, but HTML first. Like @Shiv0 said, it is the Markup Language every web device client use.

To learn web design or development the best way is practice.Start from the very small things like Basic HTml and Css than move on slowly to the latest web technologies.
