Sex and the City font name

Hi all. I am wondering if anybody knows the name of the font that is used on the HBO show Sex and the City for the beginning credits. Times new roman came very close but that is not quite it. Any help would be much appreciated. I'm building a website for someone who requested that font for their Business title but it's like searching for a needle in a haystack. Thanks!!

I'm guessing they created the font themselves. Search for fonts on google. There are millions of font's that people have created by themselves.

Of course you'll need to make the name an image as no-one else will have the font installed on their computer.

If you go to http://www.fonts.com/ they have loads of fonts.

I have never seen that show so it's hard to help you Smiling There are online utilities that can help you identify a font. Unfortunately I don't happen to know what they are but others here do. Just have to wait for them to jump in Smiling

Here's some that came up on a google:

http://www.identifont.com/ (answer a series of questions about it)
http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ (upload a scanned image)
http://desktoppub.about.com/cs/identifyafont/ (about.com list of resources)
http://www.google.com/search?q=identify+that+font&sourceid=opera&num=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 (google results).

My guess is that if it's being used for credits its probably part of some font library or other. Even so, you may end up having to go with something similar to that. I'm sure any reasonable client would be satisfied with something that fulfills their intent even if it's not exactly the same font. Of course, not all clients are reasonable Smiling

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
