Long story short, my XP system with Photoshop 7 is dying.
New system will be Vista for smoother sailing into Windows 7.
(and Photoshop 7 will not run)

Has any one worked basic web graphics in Elements 6 or 7?
Can header text designs be made or is is mostly for photo editing?

I cannot afford CS3 or CS4 or for that matter just a new copy of basic Photoshop.

Thanks

you might find what you need on P2P such as Limewire

install a GOOD antivirus first, I use Avast

[EDIT]

Yes, the Gimp is a GREAT tool.

I can also recommend Inkscape as a free open source vector graphics tool similar to Adobe Illustrator.

Of course, you can always save up your hard-earned $$$ for the Adobe products...

I was having some troubling issues witb Vista Home Premium (Windows Explorer crashing, Mozilla apps freezing) until I ran CCleaner (hint: create a RESTORE POINT first Wink ) Now the problems are gone and my machine is running approximately 40% faster in my estimation...

You should be able to create header graphics in elements without a problem. If you don't want to pay for photoshop you may want to consider the Gimp. It's free and is similar to photoshop. Its all I use even though I have an older version of photoshop.

I've had a heck of a time with Vista, a windows 98 game that we have works fine as well as office '03 However I couldn't ever get a few programs to work that were designed for xp only. I can only hope that windows 7 fixes some of vista's issues.

You can get Gimp Here.

You can run XP on Vista as a Virtual PC - that is the only way I know to have IE6 and IE7 on the same Windows box. I use it and it works.

Vista is not what I wanted to do either. Windows 7 does seem to be getting much better reviews in beta.

I have known about Gimp for ever, just never had to go there.
I downloaded and will install on fresh Vista and see how it goes.

I am still looking at Photoshop CS4$ and Elements 7..

I guess I am just 'lazy' I know Ps7 and XP ..
now i gotta learn a new operating system and new programs..
and I really just wanted to go MAC ... but can't without a running Windows box.

thanks

Oh I had forgot about that Virtual PC thing!
Cool, I may put my XP_Pro on it.

I was all excited about Macs boot camp or vmfusion running windows (xp) and forgot about this..

thanks

Update:
Vista 64 is running smoothly.
I just loaded Photoshop7 and no issues at all installing or running. I don't believe there will be any.
I am also running old WsFtp 6 and its a breeze, (tried others and they were just to bloated up for my needs).
I also have the 5.7 version of Note Tab Light.. and all works well as Long as i am using FF (which i am using FF 2.0.02) in stead of FF3 as there were just too many issues on the boards with that one.

So I can get back to work now Smiling
