Yello...

The best way I know of to get a cool looking scratchy/dirty effect is to use custom brushes. You can create these brushes by scanning something with the type of texture you're looking for and exporting it as a brush, or you can go to this site http://veredgf.fredfarm.com/vbrush/main.html and download his brushes for free. Other than this to get that cool warn effect, play around with the smudge and burn tools...or even scan a coffe stain....or picture of paint peeling and add the scan to a new layer and set the blend option to color burn.

Just remember, when you're trying to make something look beat up and worn, less is more. Don't overdo it, you want it to look cool not LOOK AT THIS LOGO, I APPLIED AN EFFECT...SEE?? SEE??

Have a good one
