From Adobe's website http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ , you can download a trial version of it to evaluate it. That is the only recomendation on that software, as other sources of downloads are most likely going to be illegal copies.

As for other software programs, you may want to check out this thread:

http://www.webmaster-forums.net/showthread.php?t=31475

where members here had discussed other software. I believe there are some metion of free porgrams there.

I think there no free photoshop to download, even you maybe can find some to download in website or some download tools.
But it's break the law in that it will infringe the copyright.
you can try use the Paint Shop Pro.It's a shareware you can free to use it in a month.
It has simliar funtion as photoshop, and it cost very cheap.

I highly recommend reliable web hosting

To be honest I use Photoshop Elements - the latest version (5.0) is about $170 or so, but you can get cheaper ones off eBay (i.e version 2.0, 3.0) and get an upgrade to 5.0.

I still use 2.0 and its fine for me!

IMO, the full version of Photoshop at it's current version is comlete overkill for all but the most skilled web designers. Most of us will never use most of what's in there. Photoshop elements or Paint Shop pro are very reasonable substitutes. Both retail for under $200, I think. Or, as managedbusiness said, you can get older versions for very cheap. Photoshop Element is basically Photoshop version 5. You could look for an old version of Photoshop - anything above 5.5 is very good.

The Gimp is the only free full featured photo editing program that I know of. It does have some usability issues though. It might be worth paying for one of the other packages I mentioned if you aren't able to figure things out on your own. You could also try inkscape for vector graphics.

Yes, I'm enjoying it as well! Found some font utilities down below that I could use.

(I use that colour picker tool all the time! Great way to keep track of hex codes for different colour schemes).

Do you know what the lisence is on that? The site says "shareware/$600" but I notice it's version 6 which is 3 versions ago now. The download file makes it appear that this is the trial version. So what is it? That doesn't appear to be a shady warez site so I'm assuming this isn't a cracked version.
