Not sure if this is the right forum to post this question. I looked hard and... oh well, here goes.

I have Dreamweaver 8.0 and when I change the template.dwt file and save it, it asks me if I want to update all other pages that were created using that template. Of course I answer YES... and it tries BUT... it won't update the pages.

This is a new site I'm building. My other sites still update properly from the template.dwt file, but this new site won't.

Any ideas?

Thanks...

Does it give you a reason why it won't update?

If not, you might try going into one of the pages and swapping out the template, then change it back. See if it tells you then.

I have Dreamweaver MX, but I would imagine it's not terribly different.

Or just to to one of the pages and try updating it from there.

When you run the update, does it appear to cycle through the right pages?

I had that problem with a template once. For some reason I didn't understand, the automatic "update" prompt stopped appearing. To turn it back on I went to the top menu and clicked on "Modify" then "Templates" then "Update Pages." From then on I was prompted for updating any future changes. (I actually found that information by clicking on that too-often ignored "Help" button at the top of the Dreamweaver page.)

I admit it... I'm a geek! Check out my website.

I'm fairly new to this forum and have thus far found it to be very helpful. NewTechGuy had a valid question that deserved a valid answer. I don't think it's appropriate to respond to people's questions by trying to steer them away from a tool that they're wanting to learn more about and feel comfortable with.

Len, I'm pretty sure Conrad was just joking around.

NewTechGuy, any update on the situation?
