Converting an access database to mySQL

Normally I would bug Liam about this but he's way too busy right now.

A long time ago I had this site with a phpBB forum. I handed it all over to the other people I was working on it with but now they're having a problem with the forum and need my help. The cause of the problems, I'm guessing, is that it was set up with an access database. They're having alot of login problems and it's generally very slow. I'd like to be able to convert the database to mySQL which would be much more stable for them.

I did a quick google search and came up with a few methods - can anyone make any recommendations here? What would be the best way to do it? Could I do it myself or do I need to wait until Liam has time?

(Liam = my boyfriend = guy who knows something about databases and stuff and would normally do this for me).

I have used phpbb2 forum and I don't recall having the option of pointing it to an access database. I belive it was mysql or sql. It's been awhile but I just loaded a software for an intranet software that needs to be installed on an access database then upgraded to mysql or sql database so the point being there has to be something out there that can convert it.

Hmmm... okay. Well, last night I found out that they don't have my SQL on their hosting account, they only have MS SQL. What should I do now??

Actually, I found something on the Microsoft site that said that you can do it directly through Access. I'll try that first. I'm not sure what to do with it after that but we'll take things one step at a time Smiling
