Dear Members,

We have recently made some changes to the TWF Rules. Most of the changes are in terms of formatting and organization, not content. Things have been rearranged and rewored to make things more clear. We did add the following:

  • Advertising - You may not post advertisements as replies to existing threads. (this was not explicit before but was always our policy)
  • You may not post a response to another user suggesting that they employ you for a certain service.
  • Signatures - You may use vB code tags in your signature within reason. You may NOT use a font size larger than the default or more than 3 different font colors.
  • A section on Enforcement - again, this was always our policy but was not explicity stated in the Rules before.
  • A few other minor changes in wording and formatting

Please let us know if you have any comments or concerns.

Sorry I should have been more specific; What I mean is can you put some thread links that violate the rules you listed above so that new members can easily get what you mean?...

demonhale, these are rules in general, not in relation to specific threads.

If you are still unsure of the revised rules after reading them from the link in Megans first post (or the link in the top section), please state clearly to which part you are unsure of so we can clarify for you.

Well demonhale the rules are mainly just common sense, we - the moderators - can fall back to them when we need to advise members there is a problem with their behaviour/post content/signatures etc. There probably isn't a need for the average member to have a complete knowledge of the rules as they will probably never break them!

As for your signature: I personally don't have a problem with it, as it doesn't interfere with browsing of the site. We have to put a quantitative value on the rule though, but at the same time don't want to be too restrictive or pedantic regarding enforcement. Basically it's a fine line, if you were to up the font size and start spamming like crazy we'd have a problem, but you haven't and don't so (to my mind anyway) your small transgression can be completely ignored Smiling

I got what Megan means; what I was suggesting is if anyone broke the rules then it should be sited as an example so that its more specific and more informative. Im not a rule breaker; I just want to help clear things up...
I hope you get what I mean...

Except that violations are usually deleted so they wouldn't be available to link to anyway. I will say, though, that regularly posting members do have the benefit of the doubt around here. Most, if not all, of what is in the rules is meant for spammers, not for you. If you do something that we consider to be contrary to the rules we'll (gently) let you know. No need to worry Smiling

I've been a good boy and corrected my signature Smiling

Quote from rules: "Earn $10,000 a month selling suntan lotion to dolphins"
Why is this such a ridiculous idea? How else should I make my living?

I'm adding a few more items to the list - again, just to make things explicit.

  • Advertising - You may not use the PM system or user email contacts to spam members
  • Advertising - You may not re-register under a new name to get around certain posting restrictions or disciplinary actions
  • New section on Private Messaging - users are expected to check and read private messages. TWF Staff may use private messaging to communicate important policy information (see "Enforcement").
