Problems with An Article Dashboard Site

Hi Anyone got any experience with articledashboard installations?
I have just created a website using this script and am getting a 404 page not found error when I click on any of the catagories or submitted articles. Other than that it all seems to work fine.

Just a heads up for people. Authorize.Net has been down for a reported 6-8 hours now, some reports of a fire, and that they are getting offiste up and running to be back up by 1pm ET(?)

On this forum, it looks like spaced lines between code tags get parsed as paragraphs. The leading line gets styled with a fixed-width font, but subsequent paragraphs revert to something else.

E.g.

I am working on a new project which will be available to all those whom are helping and selected others towards the end of July 2009.

The website project is a free website links directory and article archive BUT it is all XHTML and CSS, with some slight PHP for the submission forms.

The site has been designed like this in order to get a better page rank overall and to be more search engine friendly.

This allows the website authors to get link backs by providing good articles or submitting their websites to the sites directory.

This will be a manually edited website and also all links and articles shall be reviewed before posting...

This will help to make sure that all site content is Quality

Authors get something back by having their information, and a link back to their site with their own chosen keyword/phrase per article they write and we publish.

Right now i am looking for articles within these categories:

Birds
Cats
Dogs
Fish
Horses
Insects
Pet Care

and also Animals & Pets (General Articles on Animals & Pets)...

As the site progresses, i shall be looking more articles in various other categories and when the site is released people shall be able to use the submission form to submit articles and their details for review and possibly posting.

With their being hopefullly alot of people helping to write for this site in exchange for the above.

ALL submitters shall be emailed JUST ONCE on an OFFICIAL DATE when the site is FULL of Content to get them all to visit, browse and social bookmark their favourite (and not just their own) articles, and to share them with others if they so choose.

This will help give the website A KICK START; and give the authors website traffic and allow the site to grow...

SO whats in it for me?
Well its another website that i own and something that i hope i can be proud of. Also there shall be some possible income from the site to help fund it, advertise it, and help it grow, etc.

Are you interested in helping?
Write a quality & unique article or even a few of about 500 - 1000 words each and also provide your information (A name or Nickname and your website URL and its chosen Keyword) and email address if you would like to be contacted JUST ONCE on its official release date...

Then when i place it on the web towards the end of July 2009 (This Month) you can submit them through the Submission Form.

Programming Challenge...Get array of variations

Ok, here is a fun one I had to do today. I got it, but kinda messy, tomorrow I'm working on streamlining it.

Say you have these "options" for shirts (the number are the database ID's)

Color[2]: red[11], blue[12], green[13]

Size[3]: small[21], med[22], large[23]

Sleeves[4]: Long[31], Small[32]

The data comes in in the following:

$aryData = array(2=>array(11,12,13),
                 3=>array(21,22,23),
                 4=>array(31,32));

Now I need an array of all possible variations with the values from the above array to be in this format:

$aryVariations = array(array(11,21,31), // red, small, long
                       array(11,21,32), // red, small, short
                       array(11,22,31), // red, med, long
                       array(11,22,32), // red, med, short
                       array(11,23,31), // red, large, long
                       array(11,23,32), // red, large, short
                       array(12,21,31), // blue, small, long
                      ......

[edit] forgot to mention, there is $aryVarIndex that lists the order of the attribute types $aryVarIndex = array(2,3,4); so that the names can be matched up when listing out the variations later.[/edit]

Like I said, I do have it, but the way I got it required me to do a few intermediate arrays. The project I need it on will always only have less than 50 variations.

So if you are like me, and love a challenge, let me know what you can come up with, or at the very least, what the heck the real "name" of this procedure is so I can look it up for a more optimized way.

Intel Core 2 Duo processor chip

My PC has become slower over the past year, especially when I access the Internet. A few months ago, I wiped the hard drive and re-installed Win XP and my apps, and that helped somewhat, but lately it's been slowing down again.

I'm thinking of buying and installing an Intel Core 2 Duo processing chip. My current chip , an Intel pentium, provides only 1.6Ghz, but the Core 2 would provide about 6Ghz,(if I'm reading the description correctly). Does that sound correct?

Also, do I have to upgrade the OS or any apps in order for them to recognize and function correctly with the Core 2 chip? I'm currently running apps like Quicken, Paint Shop Pro, Dreamweaver, Firefox, etc. No high-end graphics, video or audio.

The PC is home-made using a bare-bones Compaq case and motherboard, ca. 2005.

Any advice will be appreciated!

Are business directories possible in drupal?

I've been using drupal for all recent web projects and I've found it's suitable for almost everything. So when I came to set up a business directory last week, I assumed it would be straightforward - I even had a mental blueprint of the view I would set up for the taxonomy terms. But in the end it turns out to be difficult in the extreme. The drupal forums are bursting at the seams with questions about Business Directories, but without any solutions. Google search draws a blank, there is no useful guidance or information anywhere. Experiments wth modules lead to dead-ends and chronic frustration. This is one common task too hot for views to handle. The node view, which would leave room for a node attachment, only renders a duplicate term for every node categorised with that term and 'Distinct' doesn't help.

All I want is a category index in a block at the top of the page with entries listed beneath.

So I turned to panels, in the hope of a workaround. Then ran into trouble when I couldn't make the panel apply to all pages along one particular path. Only the index page worked. Pages deeper than that opened as normal pages with no panels and so no category index or second view I had made for the listings (with the taxonomy: term argument to pull out the appropriate category).

I've toyed with every option and every function. I've posted questions in the drupal forum, all of which are ignored, and through the drupal business directory group run into another poor sod who's been working fruitlesly at this for weeks.

So in desperation, I'm throwing myself at the mercy of everyone here. I am sure you've all got better things to do, but I'm equally sure there are members here with enough expertise in drupal to clarify once and for all whether or not it's possible to build a functional business directory like this with drupal, without having to write PHP.

Can it be done? Am I missing something simple?

dreamweaver cs4 page size difficulties

Hi there im looking for a bit of help with dreamweaver cs4 i've created a site and got in online and it looks great on my laptop but i've just viewed it on my dads pc on a larger screen and it looks tiny! the main part of the site only fills up the top middle of the screen and there is a gap at the bottom of the site i'd say a 3rd of the screen, and the margins are wider as well. Is there an easy way so the site fills the screen whether you're viewing it on a large or small screen? thanks in advance, paul

Caching dynamic PHP pages

I have a PHP page that displays differently for each person viewing it. I want to be able to cache the HTML of the PHP page in the user's browser so that when they go back to that page, it will load the HTML version instead of running through all the PHP processes again.

The thing is, I want to be able to control whether or not the cached version will be displayed through $_GET variables appended to the URL. For example, if I went to www.mysite.com/page.php?cache=true, then it would display the cached version. If I went to www.mysite.com/page.php?cache=false, then it would run through all the PHP processes. How would I go about doing this?

I've been using phpBB as a forum software for my website, but due to integration with Drupal I've realized that it is not fully integrated and after using the existing bridges for Drupal and phpBB, I've realized that nothing seamless as Drupal's modules.

So I've switched the whole website and will it Drupal for everything.

Now, I've a little problem regarding smilies ... I've added several customized php smilies to the old forum using the phpBB importing systems - Export and download smilies.pak - and I'd like to use it with the current Drupal site I've.

So please advise for what I can do to do so?

Web page embedded in another web page using Object Tag not working in IE 7

I'm trying to learn some CSS and HTML by modifying a free template (XHTML 1.0 Transitional)

I'm trying to display a web page within another web page using the "object" tag. The only reason I need to do this is because I can't install a server side CMS because of restrictions at my school. I'm updating the main page by editing an MS Word document that I can save as HTML directly to the server, and then have it display within the main template page. If I had a better way to easily edit the content I would use it.

The code works in Firefox 3.011 but not in IE 7. When opened with IE from my hard drive, a scroll bar appears on the right side of the inserted webpage, even though the page doesn't need to be scrolled.
I uploaded the files to a GoDaddy server and the inserted page doesn't display at all in IE7 but Firefox still displays it.

I'm also having trouble getting the HTML and CSS code to validate with the "object" in the page.

Would I be better of using an iframe? If I do, will the XHTML template still validate?

I know there are still a lot of problems with the code but I'm taking things one step at a time

The description for this subforum covers "anything not about webmastering", so it seemed like the right place to ~~discuss~~ rant about PHP.

PHP 5.2.10 was released on Jun 18, and "focuses on improving the stability of the PHP 5.2.x branch". 5.2.x, you will note is the "stable" branch.

5.2.10 wholly breaks PEAR.

It is particularly nasty for at least one class of users -- php-fpm's recommended release depends on PHP 5.2.10. So let's say you also depend on some PECL modules, you'd have to build them yourself, or worse, cross your fingers while statically compiling them with a patched PHP-FPM configure.

Okay, so this isn't the first time a serious regression has occurred in a large project with a QA team and thousands if not millions of users. And yes, I'm sure patches are welcome. However, it would still remain inescapably evident that PHP is a project in distress, especially when compared to the quality of development in, say, the Python camp.

I look forward to migrating yet another deployment from PHP to a better system!

Advertising on Television Screens

Please could someone give me some advise?

i have recently bought dreamweaver cs4 and i've done a college course on how to use it (which didn't really help) and im having troubles when i publish my site.

basicaly when i view my site on dreamweaver it all looks and works great, but after i've published it i view it on internet explorer and it isn't how it should be. Firstly, it looks like my css styles sheet is being ignored, as my heading is in size 12 ariel font when it should be size 50 batang ( have i used a non websafe font?) Also i have a spry drop down horizontal menu which doesnt appear on internet explorer, there are no boxes at all and all my links which should be in the drop down menus and submenus are just in a list down the left hand side of the page?? very strange. excuse me if im being stupid its the first site which i've published and its driving me mad!!! thanks in advance for any help

I love the way that when you submit a URL on Facebook to your wall, it reads the link and takes some basic information and thumnail. I think its Ajax powered.
