Hi Folks,

I've had SSH enabled so I can install a new feature of some software I'm using. I've never used SSH before so I'm a bit stuck. This is what's happening:

I click on the SSH Telnet button which opens an applet window and password request. When I enter the password the applet says it's connected to my site and online. Inside the applet box is says SSH2.0-OpenSSH_3.6.1p2

But I can't enter anything inside the applet which is where I assume I'm supposed to enter commands. It's pretty much a useless box as far as I can see.

What would be wrong?

Thanks,

Blue

What SSH client are you using? Is it just a plain black terminal? Or does it actually have a GUI?

Now you're getting technical ....... it looks like a plain black terminal to me. The help link goes to http://javassh.org/space/start if that gives you more info. The terminal opens from my website control panel, it's not installed on my comupter.

I would post a screenshot if I knew how to put an image in the bulletin board.

I don't know if it classifies as a GUI or not.

I have had problems like that with the online SSH clients. The one you are using is probably just a java applet, right?

My favorite client is http://www.ssh.com/support/downloads/secureshellwks/non-commercial.html. I have never had any problems with it.
