ASP? ASP.net?

I'm just starting to fiddle about with some ASP scripts and want to get a good book which will help me as a beginner come to grips with ASP and start using it well.

In my research I've ended up totally confused by books about ASP 3.0, ASP databases and books about ASP.net. Can someone explain to me what the difference is? Or are they all the same thing?

And if you can recommend a good reference book I'd be very grateful.

Thanks!

I'm not a big ASP programmer. But I have "Active Server Pages Bible". I like it.

I also have "ASP Databases". It covers using ASP to connect to msSQL databases. This book was recommended to me by a coworker, but I've barely read any of it. I found it to be a poor desk reference, but that's just my opinion.

I really like the WROX books wrox.com

THe reference I use for ASP 3.0 is http://www.wrox.com/Books/Book_Details.asp?sub_section=1&isbn=1861003234&subject=ASP&subject_id=28

As for the differences between the various versions of ASP, its simply an evolution of the technology with ASP.NET being the latest version. There really is no such thing as "ASP databases" thats just one way to connect to them.
