I want to develop a message board on an exsisting web page that I have. How do I do this without going through someone like Bravenet. I do have Web Contruction 5.0 but I can't find anything on that program to help me. I saw a web page that I like the board on which you can list however many posts, go to whichever thread, etc. I also want to be able to approve any post before it gets posted on the page. Any help would be appreciated. So how do I build this or where do I get a better message board than bravenet?
Thanks
Angie

I think www.coolboard.com does this, but I'm not sure.

The scripts for this forum are available for free, and you are free to alter the code as you want. In fact the UBB website provides a 'ubb hacks' forum for learning to do just that. The code is a mess though (in the freeware version at least) and youll have to spend some time formatting it if you wanna make any sense out of it.

This is assuming you know perl, if not you may have to settle with a free board, or pay someone to write one for you.

heres a good free one that i use sometimes http://www.cyboards.com/ . They host it for you and its not perl, its server side Java and SQL, its very fast and there are a ton of admin options.

You can see it in action here http://boards.xrgaming.net/cgi/cob/discboard.cgi?view (This site actually uses the perl version, which is available free also)

There is a new forum that is far better than the UBB as far as I am concerned. It runs PHP/ MYSQL and is the best out there that I have seen. I have a large UBB and am considering the change to it myself.

I almost forgot the URL:

vBulletin isn't new or free. It's i think, $85 USD a year and $160 USD for lifetime

It isn't new today, but it probably was back in April of 2000. Ah, the joys of reviving old threads. Smiling

And with that -- I'll close this.

I don't know what the urge is to comment on really old threads, but I surely wish people would just cut it out. Maybe there is a "close after 3 months of no postings" option somewhere in here... *grumble*
