Can't access sites using domain names.

I have 3 dedicated servers. And I live in an area where I can only access the Internet at high speeds through a satellite connection.

I have no problem accessing all sites on the Net using domain names except for some of my own sites. One domain, I cannot access at all except by using an IP address. And there is one I moved from one server to another, but I can only access it with a domain name on the old server. To access the site on the new server, I have to use an IP address. Nevertheless, everyone else seems to be able to access those domains just fine.

I have used ipconfig to flush the DNS pool, but that didn't help. And my nameservers are set up with the correct IP addresses and have been for plenty of time - several weeks - so the info should be well-propagated by now.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this and what I can do about it?

Hmmmm probably best that you speak to your isp. Try setting your router to use the opendns servers instead of those of your ISP.

If the servers are setup within your own network, then there isn't a problem. The reason it does this is because the DNS can only send requests out, and not back into your network (much more to it than that but ...). The easiest thing for you to do is open your hosts file "C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" and edit it so the domains point to the local ip address in your network. I do this for the shared servers in my network and works perfectly.
