I had a question regarding how to increase your rankings in yahoo. I realize that most people worry about placing well in google but yahoo is right up there with them in terms of searches. Why haven't people tried to capitalize getting in the top results in yahoo? Is it because no one knows how there algorithm works? Is there something like google's PageRank system that is used on yahoo? Also, the same question applies for MSN search which seems to be rising quickly in market share do to the release of vista. Thanks for the help!

Yahoo depend on onpage optimisation. but not 100%. So first start from onpage, create more pages. that's will boost your ranking.
specially try yahoo trusted sites.

According to this article (http://www.promotionworld.com/promotion/articles/070427TheNew.html), Yahoo! started giving less weight to backlinks and Page Ranking than they used to and more weight to relevance and web design.

Here's a link to Yahoo!'s help page regarding improving your rankings.

I think too.
I have a little to supply:
Think carefully of the key terms ,the users will search on to find content like yours.
Yahoo also places a lot of importance on keyword density; Yahoo favors sites with keyword density of 7 to 8%.

People care a lot less about other search engines as Google has 65% of the market share, so even with all the other search engines altogether you carnt make as much traffic as you can from Google.

This being said I am certaily not saying ignore them, thing is they use pretty much the same rules just different calculations to get the results, what is slighly more important in one search engine is not quite so important in others.

Always aim for Google though and the others will come naturally anyway and Google is the fussy one, Google is very particular about inbound links if they are not from quality sites then you might aswell ot have the link as far as Google is concerned, where as Yahoo and MSN are much less fussy about inbound links to your site the more you have the better.

Yahoo tend to like larger and older sites much more than any other search engine and MSN tend to like new sites more than any other, MSN and Yahoo hold on-page optimization very highly compared to Google and Google prefers off-page (Quality inbound links) compared to other search engines.
