Hi can anyone give me some advice. For over 2 years I have had my site and approx 100 subdomains listed in yahoo. I get most of my traffic from them, but last Tuesday my stats went down from 4,000 visitors to well under 1,000.
I contacted my hosting company they confirmed that my sites were not down. Then on sunday I was submitting some sitemaps when I found that my sites had been taken off yahoo!!
I dont know if they have had a revamp, or surely it cant be becaue one of the sites I deleted and uploaded a newer better site to one of the subdomains, thats all that was done on the Tuesday.
Has anyone had the same problem?
cheers Chrisy

I think that the problem might be beetween you and Yahoo. Try to remember which SEO methods was used and if that was not against the Yahho rules?

It's quite possible that Yahoo made some algorythm changes which caused a significant change in your rankings. If you have access to detailed stats check the difference in search referals.
One guess is that Yahoo may have done as google did and changed the way they handle subdomains. In Google they used to be treated as separate sites but not anymore.
So you're not ranking in Yahoo AT ALL? Have you plugged your URL into Yahoo site explorer? If you post your URL we might be able to find out more.

Another thing I thought of - why were you getting most of your traffic from Yahoo and not Google? Were you not gettting any rankings in google? Why? Yahoo often follows what Google does.

Interesting. I thought that they habve different algorithms. And this is impossible to have the same site on top in google and Yahoo at the same time for the same SE request. For now it is possible? Or I have missed something?

I don't mean they have the same algorythms - what I mean is that Yahoo uses many of the same indicators as Google (perhaps by chance, perhaps by inspiration). So if there was something preventing the site from ranking in Google there's a chance that Yahoo has incorporated that same factor into their algorythm as well. It's just a possibility - the fact that the site doesn't get traffic from Google is a red flag.
I don't think it would be impossible to have the same site on top in both search engines - it certainly should be possible, at least. Maybe not likely for many queries but certainly possible. If you search for "ebay" on both, you're going to get ebay, right?

I commiserate with you. I have read that Yahoo is going through some big changes and that it is effecting the serps. I have a site that ranks really well in G and MSN as well as every SE I check it in but in Yahoo it just keeps slipping further back. It is very frustrating. You could try contact Yahoo by email or through their forums. Hopefully someone will but them and straighten them out soon.
