How do you get at the top of the search engines? Like at the top 10? When people search for lets say, cheats, do the search engines look at the "Title" or the "keywords"?

in general the looks at title, metas, keywords in page, link popularity, how old page is, url, alt tags, and so on. again this is just a generalization, but it should give you an idea.

Let me just make it clear that getting to the top of the search engines can be very hard, nigh on impossible.
It depends heavily on what market you are trying to get into/or what topic your site covers. If your site is say an MP3 site it will take a lot or work to get and stay in the top 10 because the competition is so plentiful.

Getting there is one thing. Staying there is a whole other issue.
My site has been in the top 10, then dropped way down, then backup to the top 10, etc. etc.
It also has a lot to do with how people search for your site. Depending on the search query you could be #1 all the time or not.
Try to find out the most reasonable way people would search for your site and design based on that.
