Here is a Question I hope you can answer for me...
If I want to target a keyword phrase and for example lets target the key word phrase = ( Search Engine Rankings )
My Question is: Would it be better to buy the domain name
searchenginerankings.com or search-engine-rankings.com
I was wondering if search engine crawlers would read searchenginerankings as one word or would they read it as three words...
I notice these webmaster forums do very well on search engines.
Is it because the domain name is Webmasters-forums rather than webmasterforums?

Well I think searchenginerankings would be considered one word. The hyphenated name would fare better in SEs because search engines can distinguish your keywords better and thus return your site more prominently in search results for those keywords occurring in your domain name.

Yep, use hyphens to seperate words.
MSN Search seems to put the most emphasis on domains.

Actually I've followed this debate for a while.
Some people say that hyphens help the search engine differentiate between keywords in a URL. But personally I think that's naive.
I've written many scripts which easily collect words out of domainnameslikethis and it's very easy. Why would Search Engines have any trouble with it?
I've heard it said that hyphens are considered spam, and that Google (not sure about other SE's) see more than 2 hyphens as spammy.
The best way to find out is do research (type a bunch of keywords in google and see if hyphenated domains rank higher or not). From the few tests I've done on this, it seems that there is no difference at all. I think people just like to imagine there is.
Hope this helps.

Depending on the words folder names can have a big inpact as well webmasters.net/forums/css/ type thing and as added bonus the page name
<?bhb if(broken){ echo("It wasn't me
"); } ?>

Webbot sees searchenginerankings, and search-engine-rankings as the same. But sees search, engine, rankings, as three words.

wrong way around. Hyphens (-) are treated the same as spaces and used to seperate words.
