Hey everybody,
I've read a couple of ""SEO Books"", and though I've picked up some good pointers, what I'm looking for is a more conclusive manual of Search Engine Optimization.
Does such a thing exist, or do I just need to learn on my own?

I think it would be hard to find one that's up-to-date. Things change pretty quickly in SEO. It's also not really an exact science. I think the best thing to do is to read some of the top blogs.

Have you read "the" SEO Book by Aaron Wall? He keeps adding to it so it should be fairly up to date. I read part of it about a year ago and thought it was pretty good.

One of the problems with learning SEO is that there is so much conflicting information and things that people say because someone else said something, or they see something and think they know why it happened, when in reality it's hard to tell what the real cause was.

I think that most SEOs make things much more complicated than they need to be, but I have to admit that their results may be better than mine. Smiling

There are a lot of good forums like this where you can learn about what other people are doing or ideas that they have. What's your goal for learning about this? Do you just want to optimize some sites or are you looking at it as a career?

I have read Aaron Wall's SEO Book and it is worth the money. He writes well and the book is very easy to understand. My favorite part of the book was the list of references, tools, and websites at the end of each chapter. It was so good I spent a pretty penny to print it out and bind it, so I can keep it handy if I need to look something up.
