first, I want to apologize for me upcoming question and realize its probably beneath most of you. Anyway, I built a website once because I found that I enjoy doing that. The problem came when I needed to get it listed with the search engines and this is where I lack real knowledge and would appreciate a professionals advice. You see, I simply used the free webspace provided by my ISP to publish the site and didn't get my own domain name but of course I did included my META tags in my page, and i did submit it to some search engines through one or two of those free search engine submission programs you can get by simply putting a link on your site. But for two months, I never got listed anywhwere I could find, so I just removed the site. What was my biggest error in judgement??? Was it because search engines didnt take me seriously because i didnt get a domain name. Was the ose free submission software programs bogus? I realize that in order to be successful selling on the net, you need to be listed and get traffic. That would make sense, but how do you achieve this successfully. Are there services out there that do submit and do well??

Any advice would be nice ty.

You had a lot going against you, but if your site was submitted, it should have been listed somewhere, even if you just used some free services, unless they were really bad.

Good basic optimization is not that hard to do and is very effective. It just consists of having a good site, doing the keyword research, optimizing the site, and submitting to every site that you can...

If you want to hire someone to do this for you, just check some sites they have done and talk to some of their clients. Do a search in Google for their domain, as in the "optimizeurlsite" in optimizeurlsite.com and see where they are listed and if any one has posted messages about them.

If you find a good person to optimize your site, you can expect to pay anywhere from around $500US to $3,000US and on up depending on how big and complex your site is.

Also, many companies are still talking about results in terms of "ranking" and not "qualified visitors" so you will want to know the difference and decide which is right for you.

Not only traffic but also targeted visitors to your website that are really interestead in what do you offer. Search engine submission doing nothing with search engine ranking Wink. Note this. If you want to achieve really perfect results in search engine ranking for driving targeted visitors that will make your site profitable you'll need to hire professionals to do this for you or make it by yourself (if you consider you to be enough experienced) Wink
