How often do you update your keywords? What I mean to say is that do you guys ever change your keywords to keep up with the flavor of the month? My site is still quite new and I'm still in the experimentation stage with my keywords, but will it hurt me if I change them too often? Do you have a schedule (i.e. once every 2 months, 1 month) that you will revamp your keywords? I appreciate any help you guys can provide.

You mean meta-keywords? It really doesn't matter if you change them since the search engines pretty much ignore them.

I don't think all search engines do though. I have been trying to get indexed for over a month now with all the major engines. I finally took a hard look at my keywords and changed them. Now I'm am properly indexed by the most of the major search engines (darn google is tickin me off!) and my keywords were the only thing I changed. I don't believe they have as much weight as they used to, but I do think they play their part.

But the ones you should focus on don't. Why optimize your site for some crappy engine that only has .01% of the search market?
In tiny search engines nobody knows about
The reason you're indexed is because you either submitted to the engines and they finally got around to indexing your site, or they followed a backlink to your site, keywords have nothing to do with indexing. You can change/optimize your meta-keywords until you're blue in the face but they mean almost nothing to Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Some small search engines may use them but you won't get any hits from those. Instead of wasting time on keywords, work on a good title and description because search engine actually use those to rank pages. Work on producing good quality content so other sites will link to you.
When I first started doing stuff on the web, I focused a lot on meta data, and I soon found out that most of it is worthless in the eyes of a SE.
