I have a website which has both .php as well as .html pages , most of my pages are in supplemental index .I have tried so many things but nothing favors .
Things which i have tried are
1) Updating content of pages .
2) creating new pages linked to older ones .
But i think is there ne product dup between .php & .html pages ....
Wat can i do now it has become a great problem for me ....

Thanks for sharing the link with us. I also had a site with similar problems, and after the removal of duplicate pages and some fixes in robots.txt the site was out from the supplemental results.
Also I improved the internal linking structure. Then I signed up with Google sitemaps and removed from Google's index some directories and pages like /rss/, /images/ /feeds/ and so on.
Then I searched once in a while how many supplemental results do I have indexed by Google with this command:
site:domain.com/ *** -fdgfdgg
And each time Google was crowling my site the number decreased from ~170 to 5.
During this "fix" I used to a few links for my internal pages from higher page rank sites including a few .edu and .gov links. I also paid $50 to a directory submission service provider to submit my site using internal pages, to 250 free directories.
All this work was a lesson for me.

I think that you have to hire soecialists on this. That would be th best way and save your time.
