If you go to http://youtube.com/community there is a large rotating banner ad for clients such as Journey to the Center of the Earth a major feature film with boffo bucks to spend on advertising.
Even with text PPC ads like AdSense type ads, a lot of traffic = $$
It will take some time to recoup their investment - do you see YouTube going away anytime soon?
Not only that, but there is the iGoogle widget http://www.google.com/webmasters/igoogle/youtube.html to embed YouTube videos on your own web page - I haven't seen it, but I bet your sweet bippy it comes with built-in ads...
As to YouTube, there are some interesting facts you should notice:
1) You may search video on YouTube straight from the browser;
2) You may watch video in a high default;
3) Also you may send video to many social sites.
One thing you have to do is to register on the site YouTube (to create an account).
