I've read in seveal page optimization articles that your "keywords" should be tagged with h1, h2, h3 etc. Coming from a printing background, when I built my pages I used "hard" font and sizes, not css or h tags.
I figured the poor coding resulting in poor google page rankings sinse they didn't find any "h" tags.
Well, I finally updated my product pages to css and h tags. Some of my new pages have been indexed by G and guess what... No difference in ranking. And in addition to that... some "alt" tags that were not being used were loaded up with keywords.
Now, I do understand that G may place my pages higher due to keywords being in h tags, but I would have expected G freindly pages to get higher G ratings.
I don't understand why my "better" G pages rank the same. Yes, I know ranking is determined by LOTS of thins... links, etc, etc. But I would have thought a better (SE freindly) page would result in a better rank.
