I created a website: www.poorcreditgenie.com and submitted the URL 2X to google but so far nothing. I did this about 1 week ago.

I also submitted the site to over 40 search engines. What is the average time to see your website being displayed by major search engines?

Firstly welcome to the forums Smiling

Secondly why does your domain actually go to this http://www.poorcreditgenie.com/poorcredit/credit/fix.html rather than just an index page - don't think this is going to help matters.

Thirdly it can take months to get rankings and really you should be waiting a good few weeks before Google visits your site so stop submitting it, you are best to let it get found via links you set up pointing to it. That's really what you need to spend your time doing is getting links (reciprocal or not) pointing to your site using your main keywords as the link text. Then you need to work on optimising your site so that when the site is indexed by Google and the others you stand a chance of getting some rankings.

You do realise that you are trying to get into one of the toughest and most competitive industries on the net?

You have to get other sites to link to you (preferably with the right anchor text) you can do this by tradeing links with others.

Yes puting your link in your signigture helps.

Getting your site listed on forums is a good start, also find local/relevant directories to submit it to, then it's a case of finding sites that do link exchanges and email them asking if they will link back to you if you put a link to their site on your links page. It is time consuming and at times very, very frustrating, but it has to be done!

Download the Google Toolbar if you haven't already so that you can see what PR sites have.

I can usually get my sites listed on Google within 10 days (okay, that dang movie forum took a little longer). Getting your link out on other sites which are going to be crawled by Google is going to get your site crawled sooner (provided they have not blocked following links in their robots text). Putting your link in your signature on forums is a great way to get your link out there.

Here are some places where you can post your link which have high traffic and/or rankings with Google:

Urgentclick.com Website Directory - They will usually have your link listed within a day, sometimes within minutes.

Mega Traffic Links Page - Ewwww, an FFA site. Yea, but they get crawled by Google regularly. With FFA sites, links are often listed immediately, but can disappear befor the day is done, due to so many posting their links. Pick a category at the bottom of the page to list your link and it will stay longer. It does not matter what the category is as you are using this to get your site crawled, not to be seen by people.

SimplySearch4it! - This is a web directory that does a darn good job of getting a link listed, usually within 3-4 days. They do require a reciprocal link on your site, but will only ask for a simple text link.

2 Serve U.net - Is a page with loads of links directly to search engine and web directory submission pages (saves you the trouble of finding them yourself). They have boxes on the page for your keywords, description, e-mail, url, etc., so that you can just copy and paste information into the submissions rather than having to type it every time.

You can also go to my page: Doctor Menard's Free Webmaster Resources List where I have a search engine submission box on the page plus links to other site which will automate the process for you (although, where you can, manual submission is better).

MSN is a good engine in which to submit as they do a pretty good job of getting sites listed. The rub is that they will not take automated submissions. You have to submit it directly to their submission page, which, what a coincidence, is right here.

Getting your site listed with other engines and directories will also help you with Google, as they will get crawled as well.

They main thing to not do is submit time after time to a search engine, or they may block your site from being crawled because they think you are spamming them. While Scrub the Web seems to love daily submissions, Google, MSN, and Yahoo do not. If you use automated submission tools and have already submitted to the larger engines listed, uncheck those and just submit to the ones you have not hit yet.

I am certain there are sites I just cannot remember right now, but I hope I have provided some good sources for you.

Have Fun
